Clinical Waste Bag & Biohazard Bag – Safe Medical Waste Disposal Solutions
Clinical waste bags and biohazard bags are the cornerstone of any modern medical waste management system. They are used for the safe collection, storage, and transportation of infectious medical waste. In Malaysia, all clinical waste from healthcare facilities must be colour-coded and segregated according to Ministry of Health (MOH) standards. Under these standards, yellow plastic bags are used for clinical waste requiring incineration, light blue bags for autoclave treatment, and red bags for anatomical and highly infectious waste.
Meritplas has been a leading manufacturer of clinical waste bags and biohazard bags in Malaysia since 1983. Our products are designed to meet the safety and compliance needs of hospitals, clinics, diagnostic laboratories, and disease control centres. Manufactured from high-quality polyethylene, they offer superior leak-proof, puncture-resistant, and tear-resistant performance.

Key Features of Our Clinical Waste Bag

Colour Coding & Compliance
Our clinical waste bags strictly follow the Ministry of Health (MOH) Malaysia colour-coding standards:
-
Yellow bags – for anatomical waste that required autoclaved or incineration, blood bags, and pathological waste.
-
Red bags – for clinical waste requiring incineration, including contaminated surgical dressings, gauze, and human tissue.
-
Light blue bags – for medicinal waste.
-
Purple bags - for the disposal of infectious waste that is contaminated with cytotoxic or cytostatic materials including chemotherapeutics.
All bags are clearly printed with the internationally recognized biohazard symbol to ensure immediate identification and compliance.

High Puncture & Tear Resistance
Clinical waste bags must be strong enough to prevent rupture or leakage during transport and disposal. Our products are manufactured from premium polyethylene resins, offering exceptional puncture and tear resistance. According to international standards, clinical waste bag film must meet a impact resistance of 165g (ASTM D1709 ) and a tear resistance of 480g (ASTM D1922). Our products quality were tested by our experienced quality engineer by batch according to standard published by U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) 49 CFR 173.197.

Biohazard Symbol Printing
All biohazard bags are printed with a clear biohazard symbol and warning text, in compliance with international and Malaysian labelling requirements. Our printing uses abrasion-resistant inks to ensure the symbol does not fade or blur throughout the product's lifecycle.
We also have medical grade printing ink that could changed color after autoclaved which can help users to handle the infectious wastes more effectively.

Clear Visibility and Printable Surface
Manufactured from transparent LDPE film, our specimen bags allow medical staff to visually inspect contents without opening the bag, reducing the risk of accidental exposure. The surface also accepts high-resolution printing, enabling your facility to include custom warnings, handling instructions, QR codes for tracking, or your laboratory's branding.
We are able to provide non repeating barcode for healthcare and lab institutions that required unique code for waste management.

Double-Bag System Support / Anti Leak
For high-risk infectious waste and heavy clinical waste (such as placentas and human tissue), Malaysian standards require the use of double yellow biohazard bags. Our products are designed to support double-bagging requirements.
All our clinical waste bag are tested under ASTM F2096 and ASTM D3078 for any potential leak problem to ensure safe handling of hazardous and infectious waste.
